Reasons to Hire a Husband and Wife Photo & Video Team

Two Perspectives, Two angles, One beautiful result

It's no mystery... marriage is a partnership. Encouraging and supporting one another is a huge part of our work.  Not only do we have our own strengths, but we also have and know each other's weaknesses and how to serve one another - something main shooters and second shooters may not have in common. Strong communication and planning in advance are key to capturing every moment successfully, and we think we do this pretty well by now!  We're Derek and Debbie, a husband and wife photography & video team based in Maidenhead, Berkshire.  Your wedding photography & video experience is our top priority.  We'd love the opportunity to capture your day.

If you're in the middle of searching for the right wedding photographer, you might have already discovered the benefits to having a second shooter present on your big day.  Whilst there are many fantastic professionals out there who often work as a second photographer, this isn't always the case for every wedding.  We'd first like to clear that just because a photography team is not a husband and wife team that doesn't mean they aren't amazing at what they do. And hiring a photographer who then hires a second shooter is common in the industry.  So to be clear, we are not bashing any form of wedding photography business!!  We know many photography teams that aren't husband and wife teams that are absolutely fantastic, and we've often worked with independent photographers or videographers.

However, there are a few reasons why we think having a husband and wife wedding photographer and videographer team is the very best option for many couples.

Are we biased?

Absolutely :D

PROS TO HIRING A HUSBAND & WIFE TEAM

  • We have the strengths of both a man and woman to help manage all the details, with the mutual support to make up for each others weaknesses

  • Two Full-time photographers that consistently work together as a team

  • Two unique perspectives

  • Shared experiences in planning a wedding

  • More photos of the moments that matter

  • Constantly aware of our other half so never get in the shot!

CONS IF YOU DON'T HIRE A HUSBAND & WIFE TEAM

  • May have the weakness of either a man or woman, and may only have the strengths of one or the other

  • Main shooter may cut costs and/or hire an inexperienced 2nd shooter

  • You typically don't choose the 2nd shooter

  • Possibly less professional photos

  • You don't get the dual insight and care that comes from a married couple - we intuitively know where the other is!

  • Not always aware of the photographer / videographer and potentially ruining a moment!

Enjoy the planning of your big day... have fun, don't stress, and remember if it all doesn't go EXACTLY to plan, it doesn't really matter, all that matters is, you are marrying the man/woman of your dreams!
